Hi there! I’m Mayank, the man behind this blog, read on...
My inspiration behind this blog is to hopefully inspire you through my own journey to live a life that is guided by what truly makes you happy and not feel afraid to do something outside the norm while feeling comfortable with the unknown - aka the future.
My journey goes something like this - over a 20+ years’ career I worked in 7 different countries for both start-ups and industry leaders like GE, Maersk, Citicorp and Deloitte and built a reputation as an unbeatable spirit who also happens to be a seasoned delivery and operations leader. Regardless of where I worked I helped organizations make a step change in the performance of their IT function by energizing my teams and delivering the largest and most complex technology programs cheaper, faster, better.
Recently I decided to do something a bit crazy and mildly courageous - quit my job as a technology executive after 20+ years working globally and move back to India (where I was born) with my family for a mid-life reset and figure out what I want to do next.
Now you might be wondering, why did I take such a drastic step and move back to India? Here’s the honest truth, while I thoroughly enjoyed the corporate culture in the west for the most part, deep down I knew I wanted to be guided by what makes me happy, do work I love and make a positive impact for everyone I touch. Also I was done with the cold and wanted to live somewhere warm. India is warm, colourful and while chaotic has insatiable youthful energy bursting to find form. It would be very fulfilling to apply my leadership experience and make an impact at the organizational and grassroots level. I want to use my large-scale delivery experience, unique global perspectives and mindset, and a genuine care for people to build/scale/run an organization especially one that is looking to go global, create excitement for a diverse community and deliver the highest impact and most transformative initiatives that move humanity forward.
Interestingly and not entirely surprisingly due to an open mind and timetable I am enjoying India's beauty and richness, having great experiences and meeting amazing people - seasoned executives, social workers, writers, business people, idealists, so called regular people going about their daily lives - all game changers in their own right.
As I write the chronicles of my adventurous move from the west back to the east, I hope to help more people, particularly people of Indian origin who are typically more risk averse to become comfortable with taking a break and following their heart.
While I don’t know how the game of life will unfold, what I do I know is this blog will be a fun and interesting way for me and anyone who stumbles on this to feel inspired, motivated and curious.
