I had never heard of WM Paul Young until I listened to this podcast. This guy has had one of the most meandering and marvelous life that will inspire anyone. His quote - ‘The opposite of more is enough’ - really struck a chord with me and something I am still trying to live by. Listen to this podcast to start appreciating all that you have and remind yourself - you have enough, you do enough, you are enough…
I have followed Dr. Maya Angelou’s work for a few years now and her inspirational words can fill my entire blog. A few quotes that I keep going back to are - ‘Nobody knows enough to be pessimistic’; ‘I am a human being, nothing human can be alien to me’; ‘You know what’s right, just do right’ - they help me stay positive and be at ease. Strongly encourage you to listen to this and part 2 of the podcast to fill yourself with wisdom for the ages…
Pastor Phipps has the most amazing voice that makes you wanna listen to what he has to say over and over again. When I was low, his words gave me the faith - once I align myself with what I am created for, I will achieve my destiny guaranteed. Comeback is not a go back and when you are in the depths of a setback, god is preparing you for a comeback…resonates with me in a way that few other quotes do. Tim Storey reminds us, we all fail - just don’t let the these setbacks cause you to shrink or push you too far off course. Tim is on my vision board because of this message, he might be on yours too after you listen to this podcast…
We might not admit it, luck matters and we all get lucky breaks but we don’t control luck so the only appropriate response is showing grit and working your ass off until you get lucky. In this podcast Nancy Lublin and Reid pretty much capture my view on grit and luck especially when we want to do something extra-ordinary…
‘Whatever opens us is not as important as what it opens’. ‘To be broken is no reason to see everything as broken’. ‘We are all asked to learn to ask what we need only to practice accepting what we are given’. These quotes made me cry and lifted me when I was at my lowest so if you are in need of a lift, I highly encourage you listen to this and part 2 of Mark Nepo’s SuperSoul conversation with Oprah…
I struggled with answering ‘What is my work?’, ‘Is my job my work?’. Wes helped me get this clear - There is a big difference between your job and work. Your work is when what you love and your gifts meet the greatest need. If you are struggling as I did, listen on and hopefully it will light up something for you…
Books
I love Patrick Lencioni as his books are to the point and a simple read. His advice to any business leader is simple though not easy to follow at all times - build and maintain a cohesive leadership team, create organizational clarity, over-communicate organizational clarity, reinforce organizational clarity through human systems. This advice is especially pertinent in a crisis such as the one the world is facing due to COVID-19. Read on and lead your teams to greatness…
Satya is a great leader and will be remembered as one of the most inspirational business leaders of the 21st century. What’s really inspired me about him is his belief and focus on culture, bringing empathy into our collective consciousness and using new age thinking to transform an already successful organization that was set in its ways. Path breaking and inspirational work is not just the preserve of start-ups after all. Must read for any leader…
The ultimate underdog story. I knew about and admired Nelson Mandela but this book took it to another level. He was sinned and wronged more than anyone I have heard, was in prison for most of his adult life, shunned by world leaders, but he kept fighting and then to have the compassion for the people who wronged him once he was free…simply unbelievable! A great read about a great man…
I have mostly been a human doer rather than a human being - trying to always make things happen and not let them happen when at times it makes more sense. Lynn through this book helped me rethink this approach and even more importantly taught me how to access my intuition and follow my heart. If you want more flow in your life go read the book…
Our careers are much more than our jobs and we can own our destiny if we decide to. Reid in this book gives extremely relevant and actionable advice on how to actively manage your career by building relationships, seeking opportunities, saying yes to attract serendipity, to take a leap of faith and not be afraid…
This book is everything (and much more than what) the title says. I did what I did - quit my job, move back to India and be guided by what makes me happy in large parts because of this book. It make a compelling case for why we should focus primarily if not only on our happiness. If you want to be happy or happier go buy it today…

We all especially when we are younger want to look into the future and see if our dreams come true. When we are older we do the opposite - look at our past and wish if we could just change a few things. Whether we look at the past or the future, we tend to get disappointed and become unhappy. Wouldn’t it be nice if we enjoyed the present and had human conversations to remind ourselves every phase of life has a purpose and is meant to be lived fully. This video captures this beautifully. Enjoy…
We keep hearing the skills of today will not serve us tomorrow, yet we keep teaching what previous generations learned with some modifications. Moreover wonderment and fun has been missing from our education system for some time. Sugata Mitra’s School in the Cloud is so simple, yet so futuristic, much needed and inspirational. Kids will not only learn a lot but also have a time of their lives…
One of the most iconic Olympic moments - not because a world record was broken but because an injured Derek Redmond in an act of courage beyond words, got up and hopped on one leg towards the finish line. Each step became more painful than the last, but Redmond finished the race as he had promised himself and his dad and inspired millions around the world to never give up. Enjoy and be inspired…
The talk that changed my view on education completely. I was good in academics, came out on top in a regimented educational system and believed that is how it is going to be for my son. Sir Ken opened my eyes on how the current education system kills creativity and prevents our kids from flourishing fully. I now champion more creativity, arts, a greater sense of ease and embracing every kids uniqueness in education. A must see for every parent…
I love a good underdog story and this one is at the top of my list. JS Parthibhan is a bank manager no one has heard about but he continues to transform underprivileged communities in the remotest parts of India. His message is simple - cultivate people, help them figure out why they do what they do, change their attitude and encourage them to work for their community’s good, and we will solve the world’s biggest problems. Check it out for yourself…
I didn’t know about Capt. Raman until I stumbled on his videos on Youtube in late 2019. The guy worked in the Indian Army, the government and the private sector and succeeded in all three by being authentic, inspirational and challenging the norms where it made sense. I don’t know of anyone else, in India at least who has succeeded in such diverse environments. Need inspiration? Go listen…
I am a pretty deep sleeper for which I am grateful, however I am guilty of not sleeping long enough. Every morning when I get up a bit tired, I promise myself I will go to bed on time but I get naughty and start watching unnecessary Youtube videos when in fact I should be in bed. This fun video has helped changed that to an extent. Hopefully it does it for you too. Wishing you a good night’s sleep…
